E/R MP COMMISSIONS THREE PROJECTS.
MP for Abuakwa North Constituency who doubles as the Deputy Minister Of Education designate, Honourable Gifty Twum-Ampofo, has today 14th March 2019 cut the line and handed over two units ultramodern classroom blocks fitted with state of the arts office and toilet facilty each for Abremponsu M/A Kindergarten and New Tafo Zion Kindergarten also girls dormitory for Ofori Panin Senior High School (OPASS)all in the Municipality.
Honourable Gifty Twum-Ampofo stated that, the Nana Akufo- Addo led NPP government haven pre-school and the well being of the Ghanaian child at heart decided to upgrade a number of Kindergarten facilities from the year 2018. In all, seventy(70) facilities across the country were earmarked of which Abuakwa North was considered with two hence siting them at Abremponsu and New Tafo Akim. The projects were borne out from Ghana Education Trust Fund(GETFUND).
On the girls dormitory at Ofori Panin Senior High School, she said, the facilty has not seen any major infrastructural development after its establishment in 1961except an assembly hall complex built by the PTA .She added that, the school being one of the favourites in the municipality and its surrounding communities the existing girls dormitory got over crowded after the inception of the free SHS policy by government so the need to lobby for the dormitory from GETFUND.
“Ironically the school is the favourite of the municipality and the surrounding communities, therefore, I took it upon myself to lobby infrastructure to manage the increasing number of intake especially at the onset of Free SHS” Hon Gifty Twum-Ampofo.
The honorable MP added
that, plans are far advanced to get the residence of the resident house mistress completed within the shortest possible time.
The five hundred(500)bed capacity ultramordern dormitory facility has security apartment and security doors. Also attached is an ultramordern toilet facility for both sexes.
The headmaster, Mr John Kofi Biantey, upon receiving the facility on behalf of the school, thanked the NPP government and the MP for always being there for the school and assured that the facilty will be taken good care of to improve teaching and learning. He therefore appealed to GETFUND to complete an abandoned twelve units classroom block which was started as far back as 2008 with AESL company as consultant to end the lack of classrooms crises.
